What is FSC?
FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. It was founded in 1993 in response to public concern about deforestation and demand for a trustworthy wood-labelling scheme. It is supported by NGOs including WWF, Greenpeace and the Woodland Trust.
The FSC runs a global forest certification system with two key components: Forest Management and Chain of Custody certification. This system allows consumers to identify, purchase and use forest products produced from well-managed forests.
The FSC logo
The Forest Stewardship Council’s “tick tree” logo is used on product labels to indicate whether products are certified under the FSC system. When you see the FSC logo on a label you can buy products, such as paper, with the confidence that you are not contributing to the destruction of the world’s forests.
For a printed product to carry the logo it must be printed on FSC Paper by an FSC Certified Printing Company. We have achieved this approved supplier status.
Unfortunately there are examples of printers without a valid Chain of Custody promoting their products as "FSC approved" - if in doubt please ask to see their Chain of Custody Certificate - we are happy to let you see ours…

Generally speaking when people talk about FSC papers, they are referring to Virgin Fibre material which carries the FSC certification (as it happens, all recycled papers also carry the FSC certification). FSC (virgin fibre) papers tend to be a little more cost effective to purchase than recycled papers, but these days there isn’t as much difference as there used to be.
